I have read all the security reviews on Amazon from all the numerous security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Security and so on. I was impressed that the evaluations on this product did not mention something about poor quality, poor range and so on. I 1st named the AAS security men and women and was impressed that more than the phone they could answer all my questions. I would like to let you know that the primary programmer/ auto dialer is the exact same on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only difference is the amount of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens and so on etc. They have so a large number of further add on's for their security method it is incredible, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and extra and even more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 major programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and 3 motion detectors and two remote crucial pods. I setup the process on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, due to the fact I purchased the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anywhere you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors operate beautiful. Not as well sensitive but operate at lengthy distances. I put one on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the finish of the kitchen 40ft away.The principal programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft house and I do not know where to put the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my whole 1st floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. The system is excellent. No concerns. I use VOIP Vonage for my dwelling phone and it works excellent on out going alerts from the AAS 100 security technique, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I can't dial into the AAS 100. SO....I bought the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its perfect for a alarm program because it will dial out and I can now call in to my alarm. Price? $1.95 per month. Wonderful! If anybody finds a improved VOIP source let me know!
Second update:
Discovered out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No challenge, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it every single time we go out. Even with the dog at household. Enjoy this program.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique nonetheless working great. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they last about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Straightforward to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some terrific offers on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No need to have for two systems, I never had to dial into the security method, no false alarms!
